EMDR Therapy · Nashville, TN

EMDR therapy
in Nashville

A structured, evidence based path through trauma and the moments that still live in the body.

What is EMDR?

A way to let the brain file an experience as something that happened.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidence based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their charge. Using gentle guided eye movements, it lets the nervous system file an experience as something that happened, rather than something that keeps happening.

How it works

EMDR at
Anomaly.

Phased · Paced · Never rushed

We begin with a 90 minute intake to understand your history and what brought you in, then move into focused 50 minute sessions. EMDR is phased and paced to your nervous system. You are never asked to relive anything before you are ready.

Much of the early work is building the stability and internal resourcing that makes reprocessing both safe and effective. It is deliberate, not rushed, and it works alongside talk therapy rather than replacing it.

Who it helps

Who EMDR
is for.

EMDR is well suited to single incident trauma and to the layered, complex experiences that do not trace back to one moment. It helps people carrying grief, overwhelm, intrusive memories, or the quiet residue of things they have never fully put down.

It is a strong fit for high performing people whose composure on the outside has never quite matched what they are carrying underneath.

Common questions

EMDR, answered.

Do I have to talk through every detail of what happened?

No. EMDR reprocesses a memory without needing you to narrate all of it out loud, which is part of why many people find it less overwhelming than traditional trauma talk therapy.

How long does EMDR take?

It varies. A single, focused concern can move in a handful of sessions, while complex or layered trauma takes longer. We pace it to your nervous system rather than a fixed timeline.

Is EMDR evidence based?

Yes. EMDR is recognized by major health bodies, including the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association, as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD.

Can EMDR be done virtually?

Yes. We provide EMDR both in person in Nashville and virtually for clients across Tennessee, using approaches designed for secure video.
