Trauma Informed Yoga

Anomaly strives to better understand the interconnectedness of our bodies, our minds, and our worlds so we can provide better pathways for our clients to do the same. One way we do that is through trauma-informed yoga offerings.

Trauma Informed Yoga (TIY) is a seminar-based product offered to individuals and groups that incorporates psychoeducation, application of TIY principles, and intentional and informed movement. Our TIY offering aims to help individuals better understand an experience from a somatic lens with the hope we can establish safety and security in our bodies.

Our methodology is founded in the practice of yoga - an assumed physically demanding practice in the Western world - where bodies are required to twist, balance, and invert. What we focus on is less of what physical shape your body can morph into, but rather how the yogic system can be used to softly manipulate your [nervous] system to intentionally create activation, and also regulate within a safe environment. Throughout this seminar, attendees learn about the nervous system and limbic system, what our bodies do to naturally protect us, and regulation skills to re-establish connectedness to ourselves and to those around us.

Anomaly is also host to two certified yoga instructors who are passionate about teaching. If you are interested in individual sessions or group yoga sessions for you or your organization, please email us at hello@anomalytherapy.com.
